It has come to light that 23 schools in Baltimore have not a single student proficient in mathematics. This is not confined to high school students, as a staggering 93% of pupils in grades 3rd through 8th also failed to showcase any kind of mathematical proficiency. The public education system is being heavily criticized for its apparent failure, and taxpayers are questioning its accountability. The city’s schools were sued by resident Jovani Patterson for alleged misuse of taxpayer funds and failure to carry out their basic educational duties.
