Several states, including Montana, Missouri, Texas, and Campbell County in Wyoming, have severed ties with the American Library Association (ALA) due to the organization’s inclusion of heavily sexualized content in their catalog. Other states are also considering this action. The ALA’s decision sparked considerable backlash, as it was seen as a radical shift from the core mission of libraries. Additionally, ALA president Emily Drabinski identified herself as a “Marxist lesbian” on social media, leading to further controversy. Critics argue the ALA is promoting political perspectives in opposition to their communities’ values, and failing to uphold the First Amendment rights of citizens.

What is your opinion on the states' decision to cut ties with the American Library Association?
