The drug’s primary entry route into the US is through the porous southern border, with the narcotics originating in China, then trafficked by Mexican cartels into the country. Despite this, steps are being taken to mitigate the fallout, with an additional $45.4 million funding pumped into border communities to prevent mass migrant releases.
