In a bid to safeguard children and mentally ill adults, Ohio’s Governor, Mike DeWine, has issued an executive order prohibiting gender transition surgeries for minors. This move is seen as a protective measure to let parents and not the government make crucial health decisions. However, some feel the order is inadequate and urge for more robust legislation. Across the nation, 23 states have passed laws against transgender surgeries for children, with many more laws in progress. We must actively voice our concerns to local representatives to shift policies protecting our children and vulnerable adults.
