Legislation introduce in Louisiana encourages schools to offer displays on the country’s founding documents ahead of the America 250th Anniversary.

The documents noted in the legislation include the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution of the United States of America, and the Bill of Rights, according to the legislation. It is unclear why these essential aspects of America’s creation and history are not part of normal education — surely making our children ignorant to these documents is a disservice to both them and our nation as a whole?

The legislation comes ahead of the America250 celebration taking place on July 4, 2026. “On July 4, 2026, our nation will commemorate and celebrate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. The journey toward this historic milestone is an opportunity to pause and reflect on our nation’s past, honor the contributions of all Americans, and look ahead toward the future we want to create for the next generation and beyond,” the official America250 website reads.
