State Reps. Levi Dean and Johnathan Newman introduced a bill in Ohio that would outlaw all abortions and treat them as homicide.
The Act was introduced in June, and seeks to “entirely abolish abortion,” according to The Christian Post. It would further grant civil and criminal protections from the moment of fertilization, overturning a 2023 amendment to the state’s constitution that allows women to end the lives of their unborn children. The bill currently has six cosponsors, and would uphold the U.S. Constitution through the protection of “lives of preborn persons with the same criminal and civil laws protecting the lives of born persons by repealing provisions that permit willful prenatal homicide or assault.” (MORE NEWS: Dangers Of Communist Ideologies To Be Taught In Texas Schools)
The bill also seeks to end the practice of IVF in the state, as well as banning some forms of contraception. “In the Holy Scriptures, all men are created equal, being made in the image of God,” End Abortion Ohio said in a statement shared at the same time the bill was introduced. “The Triune God prohibits partiality, condemns murder, and commands magistrates to do ‘justice to the weak and the fatherless; maintain the right of the afflicted and the destitute” (Psalm 82:3). We must obey God rather than men, and we call upon our governing authorities to follow in that obedience.”
