The House passed HR 884 in June to stop noncitizens from voting in the District of Columbia, as well as repealing the Local Resident Voting Rights Amendment Act of 2022.

“The D.C. City Council has a history of thumbing its nose at federal agencies, such as ICE, that are responsible for protecting national security and the safety and wellbeing of the American people,” she added. Democrat Rep. Jim McGovern called the bill a power grab, even though it technically removes the means of noncitizens from grabbing power that they are not supposed to be entitled to.
