Former President Donald Trump’s vice presidential candidate, Republican Ohio Sen. J.D. Vance, said in October that if his party wins the election, his efforts will be focused on deporting illegal immigrants who’ve committed crimes.
Vance explained that he and Trump hope to lead the largest crackdown on illegal immigration in history after almost four years of rampant border crossings, according to Axios. The initial focus will be on deporting illegal immigrants who have committed other offenses on top of entering the country illegally. During the October vice presidential debate, hosted by CBS, moderators cut Vance mic as he tried to describe the impact illegal immigration is having on American communities, Daily Caller reported. “So there‘s an application called the CBP One app — where you can go on as an illegal migrant, apply for asylum or apply for parole and be granted legal status at the wave of a Kamala Harris open border wand. That is not a person coming in applying for a green card and waiting for 10 years —” Vance was explaining to moderator Margaret Brennan, who cut him off and attempted to move on.
What Do The Presidential Hopefuls Think About Illegal Immigration?
Harris wants to fund sanctuary cities, help illegal immigrants avoid deportation, decriminalize illegal border crossings, provide amnesty and release illegal immigrants into communities, as she has been doing while sitting as VP to President Joe Biden, according to Candidate Fact Sheet and all of its cited sources. Despite multiple instances of voicing support for stricter immigration laws and enforcement at the border, she’s yet to act upon these words.
Similarly, she’s expressed ongoing support to provide illegal immigrants with healthcare and other benefits, all of which are paid for by citizen and legal immigrant taxes. (POLL: Should the Government Reduce Regulations on Businesses?)
Former President Donald Trump appears to be more in line with Vance, understanding the pressure this unmitigated crisis is having on American security. “In some states, Democrats are even trying to give illegal immigrants the right to vote….What about all those people that are waiting in line for 7, 8, 9, 10 years trying to get into our country–they don’t have the right to vote. We believe that only American citizens should vote in American elections, which is why the time has come for voter ID,” Trump said some six years ago while he was still president.
