Should the U.S. Impose Stricter Sanctions?

Rep. Mike Johnson expressed his concerns about global religious freedom violations at the International Religious Freedom Summit. Highlighting North Korea’s oppressive regime, Myanmar’s actions against the Rohingya, violence in Nigeria, and the persecution of religious leaders in Nicaragua and Cuba, Johnson emphasized the pressing injustices. He drew particular attention to China’s treatment of Tibetan Buddhists, Falun Gong adherents, and the Uyghur Muslim population, mentioning the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act and urging the U.S. to more aggressively enforce it to protect against genocide.
