Pennsylvania is the latest state to introduce a potential new law that would require schools to display a copy of the Ten Commandments, as well as a handful of other essential documents to the foundation of America.
Senate Bill 544 is sponsored by Pro-Family Legislative Network Sen. Doug Mastriano, and follows a slew of similar bills passing throughout U.S. states that bring the Ten Commandments back to the curriculum. These essential rules for a healthy and functioning society (and individual) were a part of America’s education system until the mid-1970s and 1980s, but were removed due to a short-held legal precedent recently overturned by the U.S. Supreme Court. Along with the Ten Commandments, schools would need to display a copy of the Declaration of Independence, The Constitution of the United States, and the Constitution of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
