Texas is moving forward with allowing students to have religious release time from public schools, yet another huge step toward religious freedoms throughout the Lonestar State.
Texas Senate Bill 1049 is designed to allow children to access religious courses throughout the normal school days, following trends in other states where residents are demanding better faith-based freedoms and access for younger generations. The legislation was sponsored by Pro-Family Legislative Network member Sen. Phil King, and has officially passed in the state! This means students will now be able to be excused from public schools for religious education, including things like Bible studies. “Release-time programs are clearly constitutional and have been highly successful in states across the nation,” former state Rep. Matt Krause said of the law, according to First Liberty. “This bill puts parents in the driver’s seat of educational opportunities.”
