Data published in July 2024 revealed the first half of the year was a huge success for religious books of all genres.
Unit sales of print religious books went up 12.1% compared to 2024, according to Publishers Weekly. “Religion” turned out to be the best-performing category amongst all adult nonfiction subject areas, a pretty stunning accomplishment! The top-selling religion book was “Mostly What God Does” by Savannah Guthrie, unloading more than 155,000 units.
John Mark Comer’s writing sold roughly 210,000 copies, but was beaten by Lysa TerKeurst with more than 400,000 units sold. The five best-selling Bibles also churned out 365.000 copes in the first six months of the year, the outlet noted. (TAKE A POLL: Should Public Transportation Be Expanded in Urban Areas?)
How Much Do Christians Read?
It seems like most demographics of Christians see the Bible as a source of transformation, according to Outreach Magazine. And that number is growing. The percentage of Gen Z who cited the Bible as a source of transformation rose from 50% in 2023 to 54% in 2024. This is no small figure. Baby Boomers joined Gen Z with a 5% jump in the last year. Millennials reported a 2% decrease, which is a shame. (TAKE A POLL: Is It Important To Address Income Inequality Through Policy?)

Here’s one thing you can tell: us do you prefer reading physical books or e-books in today’s society?
