Two Florida men were arrested in September for allegedly stealing more than $5,000 of personal hygiene products from stories throughout the state.
Carlos M. Garcia-Ajete, 40, and Nivaldo J. Garcia-Vento, 41, are believed to have stolen products such as razors, cosmetics, deodorants, and possibly more from stores such as Publix, Walmart, CVS and others, according to the Express Tribune. (TAKE A POLL: Have You Received A COVID-19 Vaccination?)
“Authorities received a tip that the pair, already suspects in a large-scale theft spree in Martin County, were planning to target Collier County next. Deputies spotted their brown GMC SUV leaving a Walmart on Collier Boulevard after Garcia-Vento ran a red light. During the traffic stop, Garcia-Ajete attempted to flee but was apprehended after a brief chase,” the outlet wrote.
Felony Charges?
Both men are facing multiple felony charges, including grand theft, and authorities are hoping to reclaim the stolen items to donate them to local charities and shelters. (TAKE A POLL: Do You Feel That Your Basic Needs (Food, Shelter, and Safety) Are Adequately Met?)
“Walmart surveillance footage revealed Garcia-Vento stealing a Gillette razor pack and leaving without paying. A search of their vehicle uncovered six large trash bags containing nearly $5,000 worth of stolen merchandise, including 400 deodorant sticks, razors, cosmetics, and fishing gear. Deputies also found a device used to deactivate store security tags,” the outlet added.
