TAKE THE POLL: CLICK HERE
A YouGov poll published in Dec. 2023 found that Americans are more likely to trust their friends and families to provide accurate election information than corporate news media, social media, and political campaigns.
While Republicans and Democrats have a relatively even balance of trust in friends and family and social media as a source of election information, Democrats are far more likely to believe the news media than Republicans, according to the data collected at the time. But does this data hold true now that we’re almost done with 2024? (POLL: Has Your View on Personal Hygiene and Safety Evolved Since the Pandemic?)
Where Do You Get Your Data?
As of July 2024, a majority of Americans surveyed by Pew Research (68%) said they get some of their election and governmental information via local news. Those who are more invested in their local community are more likely to get their information locally, having a direct impact on the politics happening in their backyard.
Being able to converse with your community about politics is the only way to create a shared vision for a successful future. Oftentimes, it’s hard to know where each candidate stands on each issue. Things get even more complicated when you get down to the state and local levels of governance. But there are ways to know exactly, without bias, what each candidate and state wants for the future, such as Candidate Fact Sheet and other nonpartisan groups.
