The 119th Congress moved forward a bill focused on cross-border energy infrastructure, but there may be delays on the passage of the bills.

HR 3062 was one of several bills essentially put on pause in early July thanks to the House’s decision to cancel most in-person work in Washington D.C., according to Politico. The bill is designed to ease the approval process for creating pipelines and grid connections with Canada and Mexico, and comes as part of a wealth of pro-energy efficiency bills moving throughout Congress in 2025.

The bill was one of 13 approved by the U.S. House Energy and Commerce Committee in June. “American families and businesses rely on the abundant and affordable power we produce here at home,” said U.S. Rep. Brett Guthrie, according to Daily Energy Insider. (RELATED: National Coal Council Makes Major Comeback)

The bill received approval with a 28–23 vote. “The bill would establish a more uniform, transparent, and modern process to authorize the construction, connection, operation, and maintenance of international border-crossing facilities for the import and export of oil and natural gas and the transmission of electricity,” according to the language.
