Red, green and gold are the official colors of Christmas, but did you ever wonder why? Well, it’s a pretty beautiful story — and yes, it does include Coca-Cola … and Jesus Christ.

“Throughout the Bible, red and green symbolize the life of Jesus. Coca-Cola Copycat?

Thousands of years later, Haddon Sundblom, who illustrated Coca-Cola’s classic Santa Claus advertisements, used the three colors to compliment the campaign. This is one of the first times Santa ever appeared in his now-traditional outfit, with most people in the West considering these colors the right ones. White For Christmas?

The color white is also highly associated with Christmas. “Even in warm climates, Christmas decorations often include peaceful winter scenes with snow-capped cottages and frost-tinged evergreens. The soft white snow reminds us of a promise God said to His people, and to us, in the book of Isaiah,” writes Crosswalk.

“’Come now, let’s settle this,’ says the Lord. ‘Though your sins are like scarlet, I will make them as white as snow. Though they are red like crimson, I will make them as white as wool’” (Isaiah 1:18).
