California is currently considering passing an act that aims to boost wildfire prevention while finding ways to provide clean drinking water.

California is once again pushing legislation that will probably fail in everything it sets out to do to prevent wildfires, according to Cal Matters. “Experts say that mitigation measures, such as clearing brush or using fire-resistant building materials, are the most effective way government can reduce the impact of wildfires. And once again, after the recent Southern California wildfires, lawmakers and experts are stressing the need for more of it,” the outlet wrote in its analysis.

“But each year, many bills aimed at protecting homes from fire fail – some due to cost and others due to conflicts with environmental regulations.” (MORE NEWS: Sinkholes Finally Get The Attention They Desperately Deserve)

The amendment (linked in full below) aims to provide funding for “prepositioned mobile rigid water storage” and mobile dip tanks as a means of aiding firefighters in vulnerable locations without natural water sources, the San Diego Voice & Viewpoint reported.
