A report published by Pew Research in early October 2024 showed that there was zero consensus among Americans on how to access reliable election news.
Only four-in-ten U.S. adults (39%) felt it was easy to find reliable election coverage that they trusted prior to Nov 5. Democrats claimed they found it was easier to find “reliable information” pre-election, while Republicans felt differently. Thankfully, we may know why that is! It turns out that most people neither like nor trust legacy news media, particularly outlets like Fox News, CNN, MSNBC, and others. Fox was the only outlet to gain viewership prior to the election, while all others fell stagnant or even lost viewers.
Alternate Media Coverage?
More people tuned in to watch Joe Rogan’s podcast and Tucker Carlson’s interviews on TCN than all of corporate news media combined in the run-up to the 2024 election. This says something major about the direction our country wants to go in — and clearly it is away from the talking heads on our television.
“A majority of Americans (59%) say they are worn out by so much coverage of the 2024 presidential election. This figure has been roughly consistent since we first asked this question in 2016,” Pew noted. (TAKE A POLL: Is the Two-Party System Beneficial for American Democracy?)
Thanks to the edutainment style of coverage from people like Rogan and Carlson, more and more Americans are tuning in to find their favorite people, not their favorite shows. Americans want their news from people they trust, which is why we’re so grateful you’re reading this article today!
