Tennessee is making major steps in removing Chinese influence and control over the state, with one bill in particular aimed at divesting certain pension plans from majority-owned Chinese companies.
Did you know that China has a law that guarantees all businesses who trade in the nation can have their entire intellectual, physical, et cetera property seized and used by the Chinese military? That means the cell phone in your hand and everything in there can technically be leveraged by the Chinese Communist Party’s People’s Liberation Army. There are myriad ways China’s stealth invasion of America poses significant threats to our day-to-day lives, and one state is doing something to mitigate at least one risk: China’s involvement in pension plans. HB 0805 is sponsored by Tennessee state Rep. Rusty Grills, and would require the “CRS Board of Trustees to divest the retirement system from any investment activity involving a company known to be majority-owned by China. It also requires local governing bodies to divest their political subdivision pension plans from such investment activity. The bill is currently before the governor for consideration,” according to the Pro-Family Legislative Network.
