News media writers seem confused as to why Robert F. Kennedy Jr. was recently spotted working out in New York City looking like a “construction worker.”
“He works out really hard, lifting weights and he does the treadmill. He wears tight jeans,” a source told Page Six of RFK Jr.’s workout strategy. Evidently, a number of plastic-wearing gym heads didn’t know why the one-time presidential candidate would wear jeans, a tight shirt, and hiking boots to the gym, but the answer seems stunningly obvious to us … what do you normally wear during a crisis? And who are the toughest people you know?
Who Are The Toughest Guys You Know?
Being able to lift heavy weights and put them back down is an absolutely useless skill in almost any kind of real-world situation, unless you can do it on repeat. Endurance is the best skill you can obtain for your physical health — this is why American Football players can’t do Pilates or play rugby to any success: they’re just big guys, with big muscle, who have to do a small amount of work in a short period of time. In a crisis, the football player is the last guy you want on your side.
You want the construction worker, the lineman, the oil and gas worker, the rock-climber, firefighter or the long-distance runner on your team during a crisis, or you need to be that person yourself. These are the toughest people you know, because their entire jobs are built around working out. They go for eight to sixteen hours of non-stop physical work and do it all while wearing extremely heavy-duty clothing. (LEARN MORE: Where Americans Want To Travel This Holiday Season)
The added bonus of having true strength and endurance is longevity of life in good physical health. Yes, it might feel comfier to wear plastic-clad clothes from your favorite workout store to your next gym session, but these items actually lessen your workout because they add almost zero resistance. They also give you zero-edge in any real-world scenario that forces you to practice what you do at the gym.
