A study recently published by Mental Floss detailed where Americans most want to travel this holiday season, based on data from social media and search engines. Do you agree with the results?
Jetting Off
When it comes to foreign travel, most of the world wants to go to London, UK, to celebrate the Christmas season, but not-so for Americans. Apparently we want to jet off to Vienna, Austria, in 2024, with more than 19 U.S. states searching for festival trips to Austria. Paris also ranked highly, along with Rome and Athens.
Closer to home, folks seemed to really want to go to Quebec City, Quebec this Christmas. It sounds like we really want a snowy, festive winter season. And the same thing can be said for those sticking closer to home. (TAKE A POLL: Have You Already Started Thinking About Your New Year’s Resolutions?)
Closer To Home
Americans are split over three destinations for holiday travel: Leavenworth, Washington; Chicago, Illinois; and Branson, Missouri. Boston came in a close second to the top-three, along with Helen, Georgia and New York City. (TAKE A POLL: Do You Enjoy Traveling During the Holidays?)
Leavenworth is known colloquially as the “City of Lights” in the Christmas season. It’s also home to the Ozark Mountain Christmas extravaganza. Helen, Georgia, was built using Bavarian architecture, making you feel like you’re in a snowy European town rather than a southern state.
